You and your partner absolutely adore Christmas.  The lavish decorations, sumptuous food, inspiring music, and of course, the mystery and surprise of gift-giving all get you tremendously excited at the arrival of the holiday season.  Recently though, you have been pining for a change to your Christmas routine.  You have lived in your current city for some time now and lately, you have started to fall into a rut with regards to your holiday activities.

You realize that you and your loved one desperately need a change of scenery this Christmas, so you have taken the plunge and booked tickets to London for two weeks over the holidays.  Surrounded by a city many hundreds of years old, and steeped in Yuletide tradition, you are determined to make this a Christmas to remember.

Great trips begin with an excellent base of operations, a place to recharge your batteries after long days and nights exploring one of the greatest cities on Earth.  As such, you decided to book a room at the Crowne Plaza London Heathrow.  Connected to London via the Underground (known locally as the Tube), it is perfectly situated for your arrival from overseas, serves as a quiet abode separate from the noisy City Centre, and it is a convenient location for catching your flight home after the New Year has dawned.

Be sure to book a Club Room on the 4th floor; in addition to boasting advanced amenities such as a 37” HD TV and fluffy bathrobes, you’ll get exclusive access to the Club lounge, which has complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks available all day, along with a varied selection of books, magazines, CD’s and DVD’s.  Alcoholic beverages are also served in the evening, making it a perfect place to enjoy a nightcap before settling into bed for the night.

After all that rest and relaxation at the hotel, get out into big city and enjoy it at its Christmas best.  Start by taking in a classic Christmas show.  The Nutcracker, put on by both the English National and Royal Ballets, at the Coliseum and Royal Opera House respectively, is a tale that will take you back to your childhood, and fill your head with holiday tunes that will bring even the most stubborn Scrooge to their senses.

Following a rousing performance by some of England’s best performers and dancers, warm up from London’s December chill by savouring an artisan hot-chocolate from the quirkily-named Choccywoccydoodah, located in Soho.  For £3.50, you have a choice of either 70% dark chocolate, 38% milk chocolate, or white chocolate.  Sometimes, lineups are out the door on weekends, so you know that this place is the genuine article!

Finally, it just wouldn’t be a Christmas in London without visiting a Christmas Market.  Head over to Southbank to hunt for a handmade gift for your loved one (split up and have your gift pre-wrapped, no peeking now!)  After you have selected a gift for your soul mate, enjoy some mulled wine or a hot apple cider, before hopping back in the tube to the Crowne Plaza London Heathrow for a well-earned rest.

Christmas in London can be a fabulous affair.  Shake up your holiday plans this year with a trip to one of the most celebrated cities in the Western World, and let the spirit of this ageless city take your Christmas celebrations to the next level!
